Ownership and Management

Ownership and Management
Jurnal Gizi dan Kesehatan (JGK) is owned by Poltekkes Kemenkes Palembang and operates under the institutional management and oversight of this institution. While the institution provides institutional support and supervises the journal’s administrative, organizational, and operational development, editorial activities—including manuscript handling, peer review, editorial evaluation, and publication decisions—are carried out independently by the journal’s editorial board. This is conducted in accordance with established editorial policies, publication ethics, and recognized standards for scholarly publishing.

Editorial decisions are made independently by the editorial team and are based solely on the originality, scientific significance, methodological rigor, academic quality, and relevance of each submitted manuscript to the journal’s focus and scope—specifically within the fields of nutrition and health—as well as its adherence to ethical standards. Institutional ownership and administrative oversight must not compromise the impartiality of the peer-review process, influence editorial judgment, or interfere with editorial independence.

The journal owner is responsible for the formal appointment and dismissal of editors. Appointments are made via an official decree issued by the Rector or another authorized university official, in accordance with applicable institutional regulations. The appointment of an editor must clearly define their responsibilities, rights, authority, term of service, and the mechanisms for resolving any disputes that may arise between the journal owner and the editor-in-chief.

Editorial performance may be evaluated periodically using transparent, mutually agreed-upon criteria, which include the quality of publications, readability, trends in manuscript submissions, the efficiency of the editorial process, the management of peer review, and compliance with publication ethics. Evaluations of this nature must respect the independence of the editorial board and must not be used to influence decisions regarding specific manuscripts.

The dismissal of an editor must be based on valid and substantial grounds, such as proven scientific or professional misconduct, serious breaches of publication ethics, persistent failure to fulfill editorial responsibilities, fundamental disagreements regarding editorial direction that cannot be resolved through established procedures, or conduct that significantly undermines professional trust. Any dismissal process must adhere to applicable institutional regulations and the principles of fairness, transparency, and professional accountability. Through this governance framework, Jurnal Gizi dan Kesehatan (JGK) is committed to maintaining transparent journal management, institutional accountability, editorial independence, and the integrity of scholarly communication in the fields of nutrition and health sciences.
