EFEKTIVITAS BERBAGAI BAHAN PENGISI SALURAN AKAR GIGI SULUNG – TINJAUAN PUSTAKA
Abstract
Efektivitas berbagai bahan pengisi saluran akar pada gigi sulung sangat penting untuk keberhasilan prosedur pulpektomi dan mempertahankan gigi sulung hingga digantikan oleh gigi permanen. Tinjauan pustaka ini mengeksplorasi karakteristik, kelebihan, dan keterbatasan bahan yang umum digunakan seperti zinc oxide eugenol, pasta berbasis iodoform, dan kalsium hidroksida. Zinc oxide eugenol terkenal karena sifat antimikrobanya yang kuat dan kemampuan sealing-nya tetapi dapat menimbulkan tantangan karena resorpsinya yang lambat atau tidak lengkap, yang dapat mengganggu erupsi gigi permanen. Pasta berbasis iodoform menawarkan kemampuan resorpsi dan aksi antibakteri yang baik, sehingga cocok untuk penggunaan pada pasien anak, meskipun mungkin memiliki masalah yang terkait dengan kebocoran. Kalsium hidroksida lebih unggul karena biokompatibilitas dan kemampuannya untuk merangsang penyembuhan jaringan, meskipun kelarutannya yang tinggi dapat menyebabkan resorpsi dini. Tinjauan pustaka ini menyimpulkan bahwa tidak ada bahan tunggal yang secara universal lebih unggul, dan pilihan bahan pengisi saluran akar harus disesuaikan dengan keadaan klinis tertentu, dengan mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor seperti biokompatibilitas, kemudahan penggunaan, dan laju resorpsi bahan tersebut. Penelitian lanjutan sangat penting untuk meningkatkan hasil pulpektomi pada gigi sulung dan memastikan perkembangan gigi permanen yang optimal.
