EFEKTIVITAS MEDIA EDUKASI “DAILY BOOK CHALLENGE” TERHADAP CARA MENYIKAT GIGI DI SD N 02 PALEMBANG
Abstract
ABSTRAK
Latar Belakang: Angka kejadian gigi rusak, berlubang, atau berpenyakit di Sumatera Selatan cukup tinggi yaitu 45,1% dimana 54% dialami oleh anak usia sekolah. Upaya pencegahan perilaku karies dapat dilakukan dengan teknik menyikat gigi yang baik dan benar. Penyuluhan pada anak sekolah dasar dinilai sangat penting karena usia tersebut disebut masa kritis pada anak dan dianggap usia efektif dalam memberikan informasi melalui media yang menarik dan mudah dipahami.
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui efektivitas media edukasi “daily book challenge” terhadap cara menyikat gigi pada anak di SD N 02 Palembang.
Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan quasi eksperimen dengan desain pre-test dan post-test. Penelitian ini melibatkan 84 anak di SD N 02 Palembang yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok perlakuan dengan intervensi menggunakan media edukasi “daily book challenge” dan kelompok kontrol tanpa intervensi. Pengukuran pengetahuan dan teknik menyikat gigi dengan k.uesioner dan video. Analisis statistik menggunakan Uji Mann-Whitney.
Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol pada skor pengetahuan dan video cara menyikat gigi yang benar dengan nilai p=0,000 (p<0,05) sehingga hipotesis diterima.
Kesimpulan: Media edukasi "daily book challenge" efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan teknik menyikat gigi yang benar pada anak-anak di SD N 02 Palembang.

ABSTRACT
Background: Incidence of damaged, decayed, diseased teeth in South Sumatra quite high at 45.1% which 54% is experienced by school-age children. Efforts prevent caries behavior can be done with good and correct brushing techniques. Counseling in elementary school children considered very important because this age is called a critical period in children and considered an effective age in providing information through media is interesting and easy to understand.
Objective: Determine effectiveness educational media "daily book challenge" on how to brush teeth children at SD N 02 Palembang.
Methods: This research is quasi experiment with pre-test and post-test design. This study involved 84 children at SD N 02 Palembang who were divided into two groups, namely treatment group with intervention using educational media "daily book challenge" and control group without intervention. Measurement of knowledge and tooth brushing techniques with questionnaires and videos. Statistical analysis using Mann-Whitney Test.
Results: There was significant difference between treatment group and control group on knowledge score and correct tooth brushing video with a value of p=0.000 (p<0.05) so that the hypothesis was accepted.
Conclusion: Educational media "daily book challenge" is effective in improving knowledge and proper tooth brushing techniques in children at SD N 02 Palembang.
