Management and Editorial Structure

JMLS is managed independently through a collaborative structure between the institutional publisher and an expert Editorial Board comprising academic researchers, clinical laboratory practitioners, and biomedical scientists.

The Publisher (Poltekkes Kemenkes Palembang): Provides the digital publishing infrastructure, Open Journal Systems (OJS) hosting, legal backing, and operational support. The institution strictly respects editorial independence and does not interfere with peer-review processes or publication evaluations.
The Editor-in-Chief & Editorial Board: Hold complete authority over editorial content, peer-review management, reviewer selections, ethical compliance assessments, and final acceptance decisions based purely on methodological rigor and scientific validity.
Managing Editors & Technical Staff: Handle daily administrative workflows, plagiarism screenings, layout formatting, DOI registration, indexing maintenance, and communication with authors.

Editorial Independence Policy

JMLS: Journal of Medical Laboratory and Science maintains absolute editorial independence. Neither the publisher, host institution, nor funding bodies exert any influence over editorial evaluations or decisions. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and are evaluated strictly on their academic merit, scientific novelty, and relevance to medical laboratory science.

Financial & Business Model

Funding Source: The operational overhead, software hosting, peer-review administration, and digital archiving expenses of JMLS are fully subsidized and supported by Poltekkes Kemenkes Palembang.
Article Processing Charges (APC): To support the dissemination of scholarly research in medical laboratory sciences, JMLS charges no submission fees and no Article Processing Charges (APC) for accepted manuscripts.
Advertising Policy: JMLS does not display commercial advertisements or sponsored promotional content on its platform to maintain total academic integrity and avoid commercial bias.
