Pelaksanaan Handover Keperawatan Berdasarkan Tanggung Jawab Profesional dan Komunikasi Efektif Perawat
Abstract
Background: Nursing handover is a critical process for ensuring continuity of care and patient safety. Effective handover implementation requires nurses' professional responsibility and effective communication. Unclear professional responsibilities and ineffective communication may lead to errors or the loss of clinical information, thereby increasing the risk of patient safety incidents. This study aimed to analyze the role of nurses' professional responsibility and effective communication in the implementation of nursing handover in hospital inpatient units. Methods: This study employed a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 54 nurses who met the inclusion criteria were recruited using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The findings revealed that professional responsibility (p < 0.001) and effective communication (p < 0.001) were significantly associated with the implementation of nursing handover. Conclusion: Optimal implementation of nursing handover requires strong professional responsibility and effective communication as essential components for ensuring continuity of care and enhancing patient safety.
