Paparan Pestisida Paraquat Terhadap Kejadian Anemia pada Pekerja Pertanian Padi “X”
Exposure to paraquat pesticide on anemia incidence in sugarcane plantation workers “x”
Abstract
The use of Paraquat pesticides is carried out by sugarcane plantation workers as an effort to control pests and plant diseases. The use of Paraquat pesticides on sugarcane plantation workers can improve the quality and quantity of the harvest produced. Long-term exposure to paraquat pesticides can increase the risk of chronic health disorders. Pesticides contain strong chemicals, if exposed continuously can interfere with the production of red blood cells in the body. Paraquat pesticides that enter the human body can cause poisoning and various health disorders, one of which is anemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the duration of paraquat pesticide spraying with the incidence of anemia in sugarcane plantation workers "x". This study is a descriptive study to find a correlation between exposure to paraquat pesticides and the incidence of anemia in sugarcane plantation workers "x". The population used was all sprayers of sugarcane plantation "x" with a sample of 51 respondents taken using the Quota sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews, analyzed using the Chi Square test. The results of the multivariate analysis of 2 factors (use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and duration of spraying) that affect hemoglobin levels obtained the final model of the effect of paraquat pesticide use on hemoglobin levels, namely Personal protective equipment (PPE) p value = 0.000, OR 18.000 and 95% CI (3.233-100.212) and duration of spraying with p value = 0.028, OR = 5.921 and 95% CI (3.233 - 100.212).
